Where did summer go?
It seems like yesterday that it was summer. The grandkids were playing in our wading pool and eating ice cream outside. Now, the leaves have changed colors and are busy covering our deck and yard with a carpet of brown and yellow. Now that the trees are losing their covering, the bare branches shiver on cold winter nights. Halloween came and went with trick-or-treaters and little princesses and pirates knocking on our door.
Next stop: Thanksgiving
Now it’s time to begin thinking about Thanksgiving. Magazine covers feature photos of tables laden with lush holiday spreads. Soon, I’ll dig out traditional recipes in expectation of feeding and spending time with friends and family. Everyone gathers in the kitchen, talking and dodging food that is coming and going from the oven and tripping over the kids.
And pecan pie, of course.
In Expectation of Christmas
I’ve been working on a Christmas novel that I hope to have finished before December. It’s about a neighborhood where no one knows each other until a series of events unites them. It is fun to spin this tale of intertwined lives. The characters have become so real to me that I feel as though they are my friends. Of course, that’s the fun of writing a book. I’ll let you know if I make my deadline of November 30th.
What are your plans for Thanksgiving? I’d love to hear them and if you have a favorite recipe you’d like to share, I’ll include some in the next post.
Until next time, have a great fall and stay warm.
Blessings,
Karen
