The Many Moods of Christmas

Excited, Stressed, Rushed, Happy, and Sad can all be moods of Christmas.

How are you feeling this Christmas?

Things that make us happy at Christmas: How to avoid the stress.

Those of us with supportive family around us are happiest on Christmas. However, people with good social support also have happier Christmas seasons. Going out with friends or spending time at church or other supportive groups helps keep away the holiday blues.

To Avoid Stress at Christmas:

Do As Much as Possible Ahead of Time. If you are having company, you may want to prepare food that can be frozen ahead of time.Pulling out meals from the freezer relieves the pressure of having to plan and prepare food during a busy season. Shopping early also allows more time for de-stressing. Going elbow to elbow with other shoppers frantic to find last minute presents. isn’t fun for many of us. If you have lots of gifts to buy, shopping early and wrapping as you go, can eliminate the last minute fatigue of wrapping. Also, don’t forget that exercise is a natural stress reliever. Taking a brisk walk for twenty minutes or a quick bike ride can do a lot to relieve stress.

Take Some Down Time. Listen to music or read a book. (I have some suggestions, including my new Christmas novel that will be on pre-release soon.) Reading take us out of the present and immerses us in a new world. For a while, we can escape and forget stress. So, plan a little reading time each day, even if it’s only one chapter.

Happy Reading!

Karen
